'Mr. Volley' was my personal nickname for Tom as he always had the better net game of the two of us. Fortunately my serve and never-give-up-on-a-point attiutude frequently gave me the edge. Our friendship began in Band class, grew out on the school tennis courts at lunch, was fueled by a love of the water and sports cars, and eventually included him performing as my Best Man at my second wedding. And despite him trying to drown me out on his sailboat during one terrible Lake Michigan thunderststorm, we were BFF's before that was a thing.

High Point: Taking an epic, around the U.S. trip with him in his new, red VW Rabbit, during the summer of 1976, our country's Bicentennial. A lot of great stories from that trip I can share... and a few I won't! We got a lot of compliments for our license plate on that trip, and I think Michigan won the competition that year for best design.

Low Point: Sitting bedside with his wife and parents as we watched him take his last breath here on Earth, That moment changed me for sure. R.I.P. to my brother from another brother.

heartheart
